Hi Tech,
I just purcahed an 07 Dawg Deluxe Frame and was wondering what the max size disc brake that will fit on the front and rear (assume I purchase the Marzocchi MX Pro fork). I know they came stock with 6" rotors and 8" is unlikely but I figured I check to see if i can fit 7's. Do any Dawg owners have any input? |

You may have some hassle finding a front adapter that goes 7"/10mm qr. All the 7" ones I recall were for QR20 axles.
For the rear it should fit but you do need to make a hands on confirmation, the tolerance are tight, and if the hub, rotor, and frame are not fully in sync you can have it run close, and if you flex the frame you'll chop the alloy up with the spinning rotor. -------------------- |

Thanks Tech.
Two more quick questions. 1. Is the 07 Dawg Disc only in the rear? 2. If so, what are the pros and cons of going disc in the rear and V-brake in the front? Thanks again for the help. This is truly a great service. |

Dawgs (and the Bear before them) have always been disc only.
I don't like mixing brakes, the two different feelings you get from a cable and a hydro, or a disc and a rim brake just don't work for me. -------------------- |

I don't know about the 07 dawg deluxe, but I put 7" rotors (F/R) on my 08 dawg deluxe. Formula Oro makes a nice 180mm rotor kit with adaptors that work. The rear is really close, but the front is totally fine. Do note that clearance isn't the only thing to consider - you also want to be sure that the fork is designed to handle the additional forces created by the bigger rotor - the max for the fox 32 is 7" i believe (for example). |

I would love to hear what other owners think of this bike. The equipment list looks good and they are selling 09 models for £1250. None of the reviews I've read are tat great and the One20 reviews are worse which was the other Kona I was considering. I love the look of this bike and especially in brown

I love the look of this bike and especially in brown I love my 07 and 09 Kona Dawgs. You can get them pretty cheap these days in good condition. I would definitely recommend one. -------------------- The Crazy Bulk store at https://deadliftdonkey.com/my-crazy-bulk-review has some good supplements.

Yes a 7" should be OK. If you're running it really hard think about converting to the floating brake.
